  • Nikon D800 + nikkor 14-24 F2.8 on NN4 - will it fit?

    Hello there Nikonians
    (Canon guy here speaking :)

Does somebody have an experience with Nikkor 14-24 F2.8 on NN4? I'm really perplexed now about whether it should work or not, in terms of proper setting of no-parallax-point (NPP).

    Vincen says it should

NN4 has MAX URS (maximum upper rail setting at 139mm), you can look it up here for example
    http://www.nodalninja.com/forum/show...scontinued-NN5

According to this great database by hindenhaag the URS for NPP is from 151mm (needs 210mm rail) to 139.5mm (still not ok for NN4)

that is for D700 but according the entrance pupil database it's the same size as D800

So I think it should not work, i.e. you cannot set up npp properly. How come some photographers say it should? Am I missing something?

    Cheers
    Jan

To sum all conflicting info up for others:

Some photographers use this combination of equipment well for quite some time without a single problem. So probably it will work just fine.
As always, customers can return their purchase to their local reseller if not satisfied with the purchase within 30 days. Therefore you can simply purchase, test and return if not satisfied! :)

Please reply to this thread if you have any followup questions.

      Dear Jan,

I have two good news :

1/ I can assure you that you'll be able to set your 14-24mm in 14mm at nodal point on an NN4 since I did it with one of my trainees which had this equipment.

2/ It perfectly works with the latest Autopano 4 version (Beta) without any artefact, even in architecture.

Finally, even when you're not exactly at the nodal point, it doesn't really matter because it only matters when you photograph a panorama with a close foreground.
