Great to know Nick - thanks for the confirmation! Time to speak to Tony @ Red Door VR and see if he's got the extra parts I need!

    As Nick kindly pointed

Upper E1 will hold a load of 1.3kg at 10cm from pivot

that 10 cm means from pivot to center of mass of (camera + lens),
thus, the screw for mounting plate could be at more than 10 cm from pivot.

For the update to the latest C1E_020x please follow the guide, basically is as usual but it will require and offer to backup data first to be able to restore it after, to preserve the settings/presets, the C1E_020x does the same as when a device is formatting its memory card.

Ah, so E2 is a different design of rotator? I'll be mostly shooting 6D with Sigma 15mm on a NN3 Mk3. Would another E1 suffice? Want to keep the setup as small / lightweight as possible so the "beefier" E2 may be overkill....?

Lower E1 will support a load of 2.5kg including the pano head and camera. Upper E1 will hold a load of 1.3kg at 10cm from pivot. It is about 1.3kg for typical NPP setting for wide angle or fisheye lens. Larger loading will require the E2, which we are having beta testing ATM.

    Good thinking!

Yes, you can upgrade for dual axis.

Dual Axis Combos of MECHA can be any combination of E1, E2 or P1, the same and different.

so you can have E1 + E2 either on whichever axis
    or E1 + E1
    or E1 + P1
    so on,
the C1 controller can control either one, for Dual Axis Combo you need one for each rotator

    Having (C1+E1) +(C1+ E1) is a good start.
If you think to upgrade later to, say P1 or E2 you can retire one E1 and it and have it for, say, turntable
or for a dedicated single row with a fish eye, like mounted on, say, R1

BTW, E2 is like E1 under 2 x magnifier glass, is bigger.

started a topic dual axis upgrade from single axis

dual axis upgrade from single axis

I already have an E1 Rotator (serial #: E1811012) and single axis controller C1 and want to know if I can upgrade to dual axis by getting a second E1/C1? I assumed the E1 & C1 units were the same, but I've seen a recent FB post by Shigeru Okada who refers to the upper rotator as E2...?
