  • As was requested here are some scripts for Vertical Zig Zag

    E.g. a vertical zig zag with images at
    60° tilt, then 45°, 15° ,0°, -15°, -45°,-60°
    then rotate 10° then in the other direction up -60° -45°, -15° ,0°, 15°, 45°, 60°
    then rotate another 10°

    The scripts are in S-Language

    S=60,1=60_0,=45,=15,=0,=-15,=-45,=-60,=_10,=-45_0,=-15,=0,=15,=45,=60,=_10
    this is very simple
    S=0, start/base is at 60 tilt
    1=60_0, 1st position is at =60 (= is for 2nd axis, V-MECHA) and _0 ( _ is for 1st axis H-MECHA)
    =45, then only V-MECHA changes to 45
    =15,
    =0,
    =-15,
    =-45,
    =-60,
    =_10, then only H-MECHA changes, thus rotating 10°
    =-45_0, then only V-MECHA changes to -45 and H-MECHA stays, had 0 from previous
    =-15, then only V-MECHA changes to -15
    =0,
    =15,
    =45,
    =60,
    =_10 then only H-MECHA changes, thus rotating 10°

    which can be compressed by using loops and ^15 which will indicate 15 advance for V-MECHA in loop

    S=60,1=8(60_0,=^-15_0),=8(-60_10,=^15_0),=_10

    in video this is repeated 17*1 sec to achieve full 360°



    While horizontal grid or Zig Zag can be full 360° horizontal, with upper and lower rows being les dense,
    for full 180° up-down or even tall panorama is not practical* to have vertical zig zag or even vertical grid top-down,
    one better way is to have horizontal grid up and down and vertical grid (Zig Zag) in the middle, aslo in practice, especially in outdoor, the up and maybe down, need less dense coverage, so different focal lens can be used for top/down vs middle.

    Therefore, the next example:

    Combined movements with two focal lengths:
    35mm and 100mm (FF equiv),
    say, a zoom, P is for pause to change the (focal length of the) lens

      Hey, that's piece of cake, how about this

      S=75,1=75_0,=50,=25,=0,=-25,=-50,=-75, =-25_15,=0_0,=25, =50_15,=25_0,=0,=-25,=-50,=_15, =-75_0,=-50,=-25,=0,=25,=50,=75,=_15

      is 60° wide, use whatever you have to repeat this 5 times more and you're done, full 360 with Vertical Zig Zag all the way from up to down.

      Yes, it works, covers the sphere for sure with a bit more images but can be use in certain cases, and can be optimized, though.

      Appreciate the clever use of variable vertical grids.

      • I optimized this, which is very easy in this particular case,
        just export MAP from MECHA and in PTGui one can dissable the use of a certain image
        Ended with this, pretty similar, just some positions are left out

        The total of images is now 108, is for 50mm (FF) camera in portrait orientation.

        1st vertical grid is made of 7, the next is made of 3, then 5, then 3, then 7 so on,
        like 7353-7353-7353-7353-7353-7353
        in vertical up-down-down-up Zig-Zag pattern



        A better variant, without repeat

        as this starts from 75° tilt up, is need to have MECHA in this position,
        while the Arrow buttons Interval 3 can be set to 75 (or 15) in /config
        so you can rotate from Level (or from Parked)
        by pressing [>] [3] ( or [<][ 3] )
        the next variants may be more convenient

        a) with start from Level instead of 75° tilt up

        • Will be an automatc generation of thhis pattern, hopelly today, it should be for focal lenght , say from 20mm to 1500mm.

          If is really realy urgent and you need this pattern before, let me know what focal lenght here, and I'll post the script.

          • FW C1E_02184 hasinternal cnages to support the upcoming automatic generation feature, which is still under development.

            I thought that if someone needs this full vertical Zig Zag, I can provide the scripts untill the next FW update.

            E.g. the following for 100mm (FF equiv, camera in protrait orientation) Starting Level

            • Some progress update, if you're curious if MECHA can generate a Vertical Zig Zag pattern, yes, it can, and does this in a fraction of a second,
              no nadir and no zenith in this demo, just to show it can.
              is for 200 mm with no nadir and zenith.

              However, is still a lot work to do left, not in the generation part but in execution, as the internal engine neeeds to be adapted for more efficient moves up-down,
              other changes are required as well, but this is not only for Zig Zag, is for an upcomin overhaul and optimization rgarding the movement and third party control support, not being able to give you ETA, though VZZ might be in a week time, just showing some progress.

                • Yes, it does slighlty horizontal moves, where are required.

                  ATM, in DAC, both rotators moves in the same time, for C2 only one rotator at a time (both will move at some point)
