Vertical vs Horizontal movement

I am planing to shoot a place using 50mm lens, that would be 8 rows and max 20 columns, can I have Mecha move in columns rather than rows, as I will be asking people to move away 8 times if movement is normal, while if it is per columns will have to move nce ore twice,
Just asking :)

There are couple of way for doing this, I'll look what is the simplest way and post here a bit later.

I assumed 50mm on FF, not on some crop.

I didn't look after the simplest yet, because Vertical ZigZag is in development, actually is frozen, something got higher priority,
so the simplest will be using VZZ when ready,
