I want to shoot a 2-row pano with the second row offset horizontally by half the angle between shots. Can I insert a horizontal move without shot into a simple script like
    SL,-25x10,25x10
    or must I use S-language?

Yes, you need to specify a particular interval between 1st row and 2nd row.

    SL,-25x10,25x10

means any shot is at 36° from previous.
to have an 18° offset for 2nd row you need to specify that the interval for first position must be 54° (36+18) instead of 36
    the "patched" script will be

    SL,-25x10,_54,25x10
    1. Mecha it possible.
    2. Mecha it easy.

The first position of the first row is 0. Why isn't it _18 for the 1st position of the second row?

I explained above that each shoot is at 36° from previous,
so you need to override with _54 if you want an 18° offset for 2nd row.

          SL,-25x10,_18,25x10
          will also work?

Sure, whilst the offset will be -18° for the 2nd row, the result will be pretty much the same regarding panorama.

            2. Mecha it easy.
